Lake Takes

The N-R’s opinion on recent campus happenings.

thumbdownTHUMBS DOWN loud music in the halls.
Everyone has their own style of music. Some people like hip hop, some like rap, others like country, and yes, some even like Barry Manilow.

But we don’t want to hear your music, nor do we want to hear you sing off -key to a song on your iPod.

If you’re going to listen to music in a public place, then try wearing earphones.

Give us a break.

THUMBS UP to healthy food in the bookstore.

Odwalla is now available in the bookstore.

That’s right – the folks who make Stawberry C Monster drink and Peanut Crunch bar have come to North Lake.

Odwalla’s healthful, all-natural ingredients are a welcome addition to the campus.

thumbdownTHUMBS DOWN those who disrespect the art in the Gallery.
North Lake has a beautiful display space in the Gallery that takes hours and hours to design effectively and hang appropriately.

There aren’t any signs that say, “Do Not Touch.” We’re college students, we know that. We’re not asking you to be Adrian Monk, but when you lean up against one of those pieces and it tilts, fix it. OK?

thumbupTHUMBS UP to new signs on the buildings.
The letters on the buildings have gotten larger, more colorful and easier to read.

There’s no missing the K and H buildings anymore.

thumbdownTHUMBS DOWN to the broken window.
The outside window near the north entrance of the A-Building (across from the gym’s doors) is cracked.

This dangerous break should be taped or secured in some way until it can be replaced. The pane is fragile and could cause someone great harm if they fell into it.

Let’s not wait until a person gets cut to do something about it.
