Blades of Glory: Ferrell and Heder go for the medal
By Kelly Seybert

Most comedies you see in theaters show
their funny parts in the previews.
Blades of Glory is an exception.
And if you think you’ve already seen
Will Ferrell do it all, you’re in for a surprise. He teams
with Jon Heder in one funny movie.
The show opens with professional skaters, Chazz
Michael Michaels (Ferrell, Old School, Anchorman) and Jimmy MacElroy (Heder, Napoleon Dynamite)
battling for a world championship. When the two
lash out at each other during the medal ceremony,
both are stripped of their awards and banned from
the sport.
Years later, Michaels and MacElroy find a way
to dodge the rule book and return to competitive
skating as a male pair. They decide
to work with Coach (Craig T. Nelson,
The Family Stone) to develop a perfect routine.
You can bust a gut laughing at the pair as they prepare to
compete against undefeated gold medalists Van Waldenberg
and Van Waldenberg (Will Arnett and Amy Poehler).
Predictably, a woman complicates the former enemies’
new partnership.
It’s Katie Van Waldenberg (Jenna Fischer, “The Office”), sister of the Van Waldenberg team. She plans to
help her siblings by ruining the truce between Michaels
and MacElroy. But the plan implodes when Katie falls in
love with MacElroy.
Ferrell and Heder have a hit.
But do not take your little ones to it. The show contains
some crude
remarks that may
not be suitable for
young ears. |
