Spanish instructor Justino Navarro wrote the following poem to his students in the summer I & II Spanish courses (SPAN 2311 and SPAN 2312 - Intermediate level).
"This is a rough English translation of the original Spanish version, "Enhorabuena a mis estudiantes de Verano 2007 de North Lake College," said Navarro.
Enhorabuena a
mis estudiantes
de Verano 2007 de
North Lake
College
You were good students,
magnificent learners,
serious in your studies,
your assignments
done, receptive to new
ideas, adoptable to innovations,
flexible to new
methods of learning a foreign
language, practicing
it as often as necessary
and on every occasion
presented.
Your class was a model of a study workshop, so to speak, and how happy, elated and fired up I was in having had the experience of working with you all, such wonderful and solid student groups, even for just a short period of time; I am truly so fortunate and proud to have been with you this summer, you fine people.
Congratulations for your efforts and achievements! Whatever future undertakings you will pursue, whatever choices you will make in continuing your university studies, wherever your work activities will eventually take place, I am quite confident you will be blessed with resounding successes! You deserve them!
Now, like my colleagues at Blue and Green North Lake College, I look forward to meeting new students coming this Fall Semester 2007, to start another teaching task. Really, it is gratifying to continue guiding these young people not only for their own sake but also on behalf of their own families, the Community, the State, and the entire Nation. Olé!!!
