Whether you’re currently serving in the military, a veteran or a veteran’s dependent, we want to help you succeed in college and enjoy the full value of your active duty or veteran’s educational benefits. North Lake’s VA Office offers individual academic advisement, registration, degree planning, course certification for VA benefits, and referrals for campus and community resources.

Applying for Benefits

Once you have completed the admissions and registration process, you can apply for your VA education benefits. The process for requesting certification depends on your individual situation. Please select the circumstance that pertains to you:
 
Once you have submitted your documentation, the VA Office will need your official degree plan or Parent Institute Letter (PIL) before submitting your certification to the VA regional office.

Processing Time

Submit all your documentation as soon as possible in order to get your benefits promptly. Allow approximately 30 days from the date you submit all required documents to the Veterans Affairs Office to process your certification and submit it to the regional VA office. College Credit for Heroes

North Lake College is a proud participant in the College Credit for Heroes program. This initiative offers credit for computer information technology training and experience which veterans gained during their years of service. If you serve or have served and received IT training, participating in this program will reduce the amount of time needed for an associate degree to just 18 months. You can also earn professional certification in 10 months.
