Sustainable Campus

North Lake College encourages a culture of environmental stewardship and the creation and enhancement of a learning and working environment that promotes success and wellness.

We believe that sustainability is good business practice. The right investment in the present will cause eco-efficiencies and derive future resource preservation.

Our sustainable practices are increasingly visible, and seek to engage our community in a growing awareness of environmental responsibility.

  • North Lake's Native Garden provides a beautiful, hardy, drought-resistant, low maintenance landscape while benefiting the environment.
  • All storm water at NLC is captured in our 3.5-acre lake and recycled for irrigation.
  • Computer labs at NLC are all programmed to power down at the end of the day to conserve electricity.
  • For the past 4 years, all new carpet at NLC is both made of post-consumer recycled content and sent for recycling during all replacement programs.
