Register Now for May/Summer and Fall Credit Classes

Some things are just meant to be together: peanut butter and jelly ... chips and salsa ... Summer and Fall registration. The colleges of DCCCD have combined Summer and Fall registration into a one-stop process. That makes it really convenient for you to sign up for the classes you need. Plan ahead and get your schedule set through December!

At just $59 per credit hour (or $177 per three-credit-hour class) for Dallas County residents, the colleges of DCCCD offer one of the best educational bargains around. (Learn more about our tuition.)

Are you new to college? If so, start the registration process early. You must complete the application, pre-advising, assessment and advising process before you can register for classes. (Learn more about the admissions and registration process.) Also, you may need to show proof of meningitis vaccination to register.

Home for the Summer?

If you’ll be home from college for the summer, take a class at a college of DCCCD and save big bucks! Why pay university tuition rates when you can get the same credit course at your neighborhood community college (Brookhaven, Cedar Valley, Eastfield, El Centro, Mountain View, North Lake or Richland) for just $177 a course for Dallas County residents?

If you already have earned credits from another college or university, here’s how to sign up to take a summer course at a college of DCCCD:

  1. Apply for admission.
  2. Have your college or university mail your most recent official transcript to the DCCCD college you want to attend, or bring it by in person. We also need the scores from all assessment tests you have taken (SAT, ACT, etc.). (Note that some universities include these scores on official transcripts.)
  3. Find the courses you want to take.
  4. Register. (See “How to Register” below.)

See our Summer Transfer Students page for a checklist with tips just for you.

Core classes fill up quickly, so be sure to register early to get the classes you want.

Make the Most of May

Are you a highly motivated student who can devote time to an intense, fast-paced program of study? Then consider enrolling in a May term course. This “minimester” lets you earn three or more credit hours in just a few weeks.

The May term class schedule is different at each college but typically lasts from mid-May through early June. “Maymester” course offerings vary by college also; subjects may range from accounting, biology and English to blueprint reading, cake decorating, real estate principles and weight training — to name just a few.

Choose the Summer Term That Fits Your Schedule — or Register for Both

The colleges of DCCCD offer two summer terms: Summer I, which begins Thursday, June 6, and Summer II, which starts Monday, July 8.

Note that we also offer Flex Term classes that don’t follow the regular semester schedules.

Fall Classes Start in August

The leaves won't be falling yet, but Fall semester credit classes start Monday, Aug. 26.

When to Register

  • Priority registration (open to returning students) began Tuesday, April 23, and ends Sunday, April 28.
  • Regular registration (open to all students) starts Monday, April 29. End dates for May term registration vary by college. End dates for Summer term registration vary by class. (You can register up until a class has met once.) The last day to register for regular, semester-length Fall credit classes is Wednesday, Aug. 21.

How to Register

Note that dates and times for on-campus registration may vary by college; visit your college’s website for the most current information.

If you are new to the colleges of DCCCD, we strongly recommend that you register in person at the college you plan to attend so you can get information about course prerequisites, the degrees we offer, the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), tuition and other important topics.
