[Dr. Minger:] Welcome to the Fast Track Supervisor Certificate program.
This unique program will assess your existing supervisory competencies, so that you can move quickly through the areas that you already know and focus on the things you need to learn.
Everyone's been supervised by parents, teachers and bosses, but studying supervision is a whole new ballgame.
There are guiding principles to successful supervision.
In this online program, you'll learn and demonstrate these principles and corresponding skills in a series of courses that are rich in video, interactive learning activities, readings, practice quizzes, and assessments.
Of course, your instructor will be a mouse click, email, or phone call away.
We want you to be successful, so we'll provide the tools to help you learn, to lead, and supervise more effectively in your organization.
As you look at the road ahead, you may want to know how you'll find your way, especially if you've never done this before.
But people just like you have found that they can learn supervisory techniques and understand when those techniques are appropriate.
You'll improve your communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in this program, and get a better understanding of human resources and the general world of business.
The supervisor certificate applies 100% to the management associate degree should you later decide to continue your education, giving you a solid educational foundation and career path that will always be in high demand.
It could help you advance into management or learn to be a better supervisor or manager in your current job.
You'll also add practical, real-world business and leadership skills to your resume.
The supervisor certificate consists of six, eight-week online courses.
The courses are taken two at a time, allowing you to finish in twenty four weeks.
The courses are business principles, supervision, principles of management, human resources management, problem solving and decision making, and cooperative work experience.
All of the materials needed are built right into the course, so there are no textbooks costs or added fees.
Tuition is very affordable, especially for Dallas County residents.
Financial aid is also available to those who qualify.
This eighteen-credit-hour college program is waved from admissions testing, meaning you won't have to pass exams in English.
writing, or math in order to start the program.
Once you enroll, you'll be given a username and password to access e-campus, where the courses are located.
The system is very easy to learn and user friendly.
Just click on your course and you're in.
Review the syllabus, and begin with unit one.
There's a short pre-assessment at the beginning of each unit to test your prior knowledge of the subject matter.
If you pass, you go directly to the mastery assessment.
If you don't pass.
no need to worry.
Just go to the unit content and review the readings, videos, and learning activities.
As you move along, take the self-assessments to see how well you comprehend the subject.
Each unit culminates with a mastery assessment.
Passing a mastery assessment at 80% or higher allows you to move to the next unit.
You have eight weeks to pass each set of two courses, but with as little as twelve hours of study per week, you can easily do it.
Cooperative work experience is the capstone of the program.
In this course, you'll demonstrate the skills acquired in all the prior courses.
You'll set goals with your supervisor, and have those goals evaluated at the end of the course.
This is a great opportunity to highlight skills for your employer and earn college credit, too.
Since you'll be working and taking classes at the same time, we know that you'll need to make every minute count.
You can work on your courses anytime, from home, on your lunch break at work, or while traveling.
or while traveling.
Your instructors are seasoned professionals.
Many have PhDs with more than twenty-five years of experience in the field.
Your instructors are also there for you to offer mentoring, coaching, guidance, and critical, timely feedback.
You'll never have to wait and wonder how you are doing in the classes.
Unit assessments are scored promptly.
That way, you can either move ahead to the next section, or review with your instructor before trying the unit assessment a second time.
The supervisor certificate will help you get the results you want by increasing your knowledge and skills using your time more effectively, and becoming more confident.
