Greg Ruuska

Greg Ruuska began teaching after five years of working in corporate media, specializing in interactive video training and simulator design, production and implementation. This work combined his passion for video and audio production, computers and instructional design. He received a U.S. patent for his co-invention of the “Training and Certification System and Method.” 

He has worked on a motion picture as a location sound mixer and has also worked on numerous television commercials as well as news and sports programs. His work has been seen on ESPN, PBS, NBC, CBS, WB and Fox Sports. He has also spent some time in radio as a producer, disc jockey and newscaster.

He began teaching Internet Development Technologies classes at El Centro College in 2000 and Video Technology classes at North Lake in 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film, with a minor in computer science, from the University of North Texas and has taken additional graduate classes there.

Since 1994, he has taught media technology classes at the Dale Jackson Career Center (DJCC) for Lewisville ISD. Ruuska holds a lifetime Texas Education Agency Career and Technology Education Teacher Certification. He received the 1995 Sallie Mae First Class Teacher Award for Outstanding First Year Teacher and was named 2005 DJCC Teacher of the Year.

He has served as a chairman for local, state and national television production contests for SkillsUSA since 1999.
