Greg Ruuska began teaching after five years working in corporate media specializing in interactive video training and simulator design, production and implementation. For his work in that capacity, he received a U.S. patent for his co-invention of the "Training and Certification System and Method.” This work combined his passion for video and audio production, computers and instructional design.
Ruuska has experience working on motion pictures as a location sound mixer, 2nd AC, and cinematographer. He has also worked on numerous television commercials as well as for news and sports programs. His work has been seen on ESPN, PBS, NBC, CBS, WB/CW and Fox Sports. He has also spent time in radio as a producer, disc jockey and newscaster.
He began teaching Internet Publishing and E-Commerce classes at El Centro College in 2000 and has taught Video Technology classes at North Lake since 2004. He holds a bachelor’s degree in radio/TV/film with a minor in computer science from the University of North Texas and has taken additional graduate classes there in applied technology and performance improvement.
He taught media technology classes for 23 years at the Dale Jackson Career Center for the Lewisville ISD, where he holds a lifetime TEA CATE T&I Teacher Certification. He was awarded the 1995 Sallie Mae First Class Teacher Award for Outstanding First Year Teacher in the district, and the 2005 DJCC Teacher of the Year. He has served as a chairman for local, state and national television production contests for the student leadership organization SkillsUSA from 1999-2012.
