Lawrence Johnson

Program Coordinator and Faculty

Lawrence Johnson, Construction Technology program coordinator since 2015, has been involved with business and industry as a teacher and employer for more than 35 years. He served as a vocational instructor in Oklahoma for nine years, in the Kansas higher education system for three years, and taught construction technology for the Dallas Independent School District for three years. 

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in technical and industrial education from Oklahoma State University. He is nationally certified by the National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) in both masonry and carpentry and is certified by the National Center for Career and Education Research (NCCER) in core curriculum, carpentry and masonry.  

His safety résumé includes OSHA Safety 30 and Safety 10 certifications. He is also a subject material expert serving on the NCCER board and a Texas Essential Skills Committee expert; he served on the committee of the Oklahoma Department of Career Technology, writing test questions for the state competency exam for masonry.
