Ceremony Details for Graduates

Doors open to guests at 6 p.m.
Ceremony begins promptly at 7 p.m.
Graduate check-in times will be assigned. Late Arrivals: Graduates who arrive after 7 p.m. may not be able to participate in the procession and will be seated once it is over.

Any graduate who would like to participate in the commencement ceremony is required to RSVP by submitting a Commencement Participation Form. Forms submitted by 11:59 p.m. on April 6 will have the students' names included in the printed program. The final deadline to submit this form is 11:59 p.m. on May 1. Students will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony if they did not submit an RSVP.

Graduates will have an assigned section of the parking lot in which to park and will check in at the back of the venue. Once the graduate checks in they will not be permitted to leave. Guests will not be allowed in the graduate check-in and pre-staging areas. 

What to Bring

Read information regarding the proper wearing of your cap and gown. Do not bring personal items (purses, cosmetic bags, backpacks, etc.) with you to graduation that cannot fit in a pocket underneath your gown. Cell phones must be turned off and put away during the ceremony. Belongings may not be left in the check-in or pre-staging areas during the ceremony. North Lake College is not liable for any lost or stolen items.

Parking

Parking is free for the graduates and all guests. We recommend carpooling to reduce traffic congestion before and after the ceremony.

Tickets

Graduates may invite a limited number of guests to the ceremony and a ticket will be required for each guest to gain entry to the ceremony. The amount of guest tickets given to graduates is based on how many graduates RSVP to participate. Those that have submitted RSVPs will be notified closer to the ceremony how many tickets they can pick up. 

We anticipate each graduate will receive at least 6 guest tickets. 

Adults and children over one year old need a ticket in order to be seated at the venue. Children under one year old will be required to sit in a guest's lap.

Restricted Items

The following items are NOT allowed inside The Theatre and you and/or your guests will be asked to return any restricted items to your vehicle.

  •     Food or beverages of any kind (including bottled waters and/or snacks)
  •     Flowers
  •     Signs, banners, placards, or mortarboards
  •     Balloons, beach balls, Frisbees, bubbles, silly string, glitter, confetti, or laser pens
  •     Bullhorns, air horns, or any artificial noisemakers
  •     Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives)
  •     Animals (official service animals only)
  •     Monopods and tripods
  •     Wrapped gifts
  •     Umbrellas

The Theatre is a drug- and alcohol-free facility. No smoking is allowed on the premises.

Photographer

A professional photographer will be taking individual photos of the graduates crossing the stage as well as backstage. FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY will be providing the photography services during the ceremony. For event information, visit Flash Photography and type in the Department Code NLAKE77G.
