Want to enjoy a scenic run and support veterans at the same time?
fun-run and walk is right around the corner. Literally. It's April 28 at North Lake College – only a short DART ride away.
The annual fundraiser is put on by the Student Veterans Association at North Lake College — or "SVA" for short. If anyone knows how to have fun, it's them! In fact, SVA dreamt up this fun event to raise scholarships for student veterans back in 2015, and the event is now in its third successful year.
Hundreds of runners show up each spring as veterans and the community come together and run together.
Local businesses are teaming up to sponsor the 2017 So,Go! 5K race, offering information booths, activities and live music. Plus, the student veterans are working on bribing Mother Nature for that gorgeous spring sunshine.
There is even a special one mile fun-run/walk for the kiddos – or those of us with bad knees!
All that's needed is you.
Ready to raise some money for student veteran scholarships? You are awesome.
Sign up for the SO,GO! 5K online.
Early registration is $20. Walk-up registration is $25. All participants will receive a free T-shirt (all while helping support scholarships for student veterans). It really is a great thing.
Riding the DART to the So,Go! 5K? Smart thinking. Just be sure to take the orange line and exit North Lake College Station.
We'll see you at 5 p.m. on April 28, 2017. The official event hashtag is
