Student Leadership Institute (SLI)

Leadership skills and life skills go hand in hand. Some of these things are learned in classrooms, but many are not. To be an effective leader, you need to develop the ability to:

  • effectively communicate
  • take initiative
  • plan, organize, and make decisions and judgments
  • be objective and flexible
  • be perceptive and empathetic
  • have a spirit of collaboration

Our Student Leadership Institute gives you the chance to develop these skills not only to prepare for work but also to grow into a well-rounded person. We enhance your knowledge of leadership through the humanities, hands-on activities, dynamic speakers, conferences and retreats.

If you have a 2.0 minimum GPA and are in good conduct standing, you are welcome to join the Student Leadership Institute.

Contact any DCCCD Office of Student Life (OSL) to join or to get more information.
