"Where today's students become tomorrow's leaders"
Leadership skills and life skills go hand-in-hand. Some of these talents are learned in academic classrooms, but many are not. To be effective leaders, individuals need to develop various abilities: to effectively communicate, take initiative, plan, organize, and make decisions and judgments. Leaders must also learn to be objective, flexible, perceptive, empathetic, and have a spirit of collaboration.
Our Student Leadership Institute gives you the chance to develop these skills to prepare not only for employment opportunities, but also to grow into well rounded individuals. We enhance the student's knowledge of leadership through the humanities, hands-on activities, dynamic speakers, conferences and retreats.
Our Institute is a free continuing education class held Tuesdays from 2-4pm in the Student Life Center each fall and spring semester. The class will be included on a continuing education transcript that can be used for transfer and scholarship purposes.
The course begins in the second week of each semester and continues through the week before final exams.
